We do indeed, click here to head to our Stairlift Buying Guide.

We cover every step – from how to start your stairlift search and pick the right model, right up to installation and aftercare.

We do need to measure your stairs and also assess your particular requirements to make sure that your stairlift fits your staircase and meets your needs. This usually takes no longer than an hour, depending on the type of staircase. Our assessments are carried out by a trained stairlift technician, put you under no-obligation and are free of charge. In most circumstances, we will be able to provide you with an estimate and available options at this point. It is strongly advisable for the end user to be present for this visit as user measurements need to be taken into account as well as medical conditions/ needs. We can arrange this at a convenient time, including evenings and weekends should family members or carers wish to be present.
Any reputable stairlift company will conduct a survey of your stairs and the prospective user. Not only will your stairs be measured but so will the end user in a seated position. to check whether a stairlift will fit your staircase with the end user having a clear unobstructed route throughout the journey. A reputable stair lift company should also ask you questions about your disability/mobility and how your mobility might change over the next few years to make sure your needs will be fully met. Not all stair lifts are adaptable as needs change, a reputable company will highlight these to you. A survey is exactly what it is, it is not a sales meeting so there should be no pressure or push for decision making at that point.

Costs of a stairlift can vary depending on the type or style of stairs within your home, the stairlift model you choose, what additional options you require and if any associated work is necessary to install the stairlift, (e.g. installation of a power supply if a socket isn’t available nearby) . As a general guide for new, straight stairlifts start from approximately £1,500 and curved stairlifts from approximately £4,000, and there are often refurbished options available that can help lower this. The price of a stairlift does vary depending on any additional options that each customer needs, examples could be powered swivel or powered footrest raisers. We can give you an accurate quotation for a stairlift once we have completed our no-obligation, free of charge in-home assessment and determined the stairlift that’s right for you and your home. This guarantees that we choose the best possible stairlift options for you to use your stairlift with ease. The modern stairlift is very economical, the stairlift is powered by safe sealed rechargeable batteries, mains power is only used to recharge the batteries when a charge is needed, at very low power consumption.
All stairlifts are actually fitted to the steps, not the wall, which means that there is no damage to your walls or decoration. The stairlift brackets or legs, are bolted into the steps, so stairlifts can even be installed on staircases with plasterboard and non-supporting walls.
There could be two very different questions here; 1] If you are struggling to use your home fully as the stairs have become difficult, compared to moving home, having a stairlift installed is certainly the most cost effective solution, allowing you to have full use of your home again. 2] Having the correct stairlift installed for your stairs and medical conditions, not forgetting how this may change as the years roll on, will not only make life easier for you, but more than likely save you further expenditure on the product and maintenance in the future.
Modern stair lifts today are very slimline. When folded they do not usually take up much more than 300mm depending on the model. This leaves enough space for other users of the stairs to use the stairs normally in safety. On curved stairs where possible we always advise to fit the stairlift on the side with the shortest/ narrowest steps, leaving the larger area of steps accessible to other people using the stairs.
Modern stair lifts are very versatile and slimline in design, so they can fit on the majority of staircases – even spiral staircases. There are many makes of stairlift, with different models and programmable options which enable a stairlift to be fitted almost anywhere. We have a wide range of carefully selected stair lifts from leading manufacturers, to choose from, so we can accommodate most stairs. Our free of charge no obligation survey will provide you with all of the information you need if you’re not sure whether a stairlift will fit.
Depending on the stairlift model you choose, delivery times can vary from around next day to two weeks for straight stairs, and from one to six weeks for curved stairs. Installation can be as little as two hours for straight stair lifts, to six hours for curved stair lifts. Our installation team will perform all installations with minimal disruption and clear up behind themselves when leaving taking all packaging with them.

We receive many calls from existing and new clients who already have a stairlift from another supplier, normally who are not satisfied with their original stairlift installer, are unable to get aftercare support from them, are looking for comparative deals, or have been recommended to us and would simply prefer to have us look after their stairlift maintenance. If you are not the owner of the property, you will need the landlord/ owner’s permission and approval prior to installation, we will happily provide all technical information and have a meeting with the building owner if required. Regarding the property, if your property is a listed building, depending on the exact type of listing you may need planning approval. We have access to expert local planners who can handle this for you, or can provide you with all of the technical information you need to handle the planning process yourself.

Stairlifts are not only designed to fit individual staircases and each customer’s requirements, but are fitted with many safety devices and sensors. We have spoken with and dealt with many customers who have bought a second hand stairlift from auction sites or local newspapers, sometimes these have been advertised as “ex demo”!. Unfortunately, they often find that the stairlift does not fit their stairs or they cannot install the lift properly and subsequently either a non qualified installer or a family member has “bodged” the install and compromised the safety of the user and everyone else around. We also have experience of customers who have purchased cheaply from companies based 100s of miles away with empty promises of local service engineers should anything go wrong. When it inevitably does, the customer has to wait up to 2 weeks (as they wait for other jobs to come up in the same area), have to pay an extortionate call out or sometimes just doesn’t get a response.

There is an age old saying, “you get what you pay for”. The cheapest price overall may not be the best overall value for your money. If you are comparing prices, we would advise that you compare only written quotes detailing precisely what product you are getting, what the warranty periods are and what the warranty covers. It is impossible to compare on a like for like basis if you don’t have this. Make sure you know what the aftercare is like, and where the local engineers are based. Perhaps even go as far as to ask to speak with a local customer who has used their services. You could also look at some customer testimonials on the internet. When choosing, look also for the BHTA (British Health Trades Association) logo. All BHTA members sign up to a Code of Practice approved by the Office of Fair Trading. You can read more about the code of practice on the BHTA website.
