Your Stairlift Journey – What to Expect
The company motto at Kudos Stairlifts has always been, “because it’s the quality of life that matters most”. As an industry-leading stairlift supplier, this means helping you to maintain your independence at home, prolong your mobility and provide peace of mind for yourself & your loved ones.
A stairlift is not necessarily a desirable product, usually it is purchased out of necessity – and, more often that not, once the need for a mobility aid has become urgent. Whether you’re planning ahead or finding yourself in a ‘need it now’ situation, we have created a helpful guide for what to expect on your stairlift journey.
1. Choosing & Contacting a Stairlift Supplier
First you will look for any recommendations from people you know and perhaps complete some research yourself. Our top tips when searching for a reputable stairlift supplier include: contacting stairlift manufacturers directly for their approved dealers, utilising trusted resources, checking suppliers’ accreditations and reading verified reviews.
Once you make contact with the supplier(s) you have chosen, you should expect the following:
- A friendly, respectful conversation, centred around what your needs are and what the available solutions are.
- Some questions around the user’s conditions, any support that is currently in place and availability for a no-obligation assessment.
- To be given information around what takes place during the in-home assessment, including approximate starting price ranges to expect.
- Reassurance regarding the assessor/surveyor that will be visiting you and how your quotation(s) will be shared with you.
You may well receive a follow up call from an office team at some point after your no obligation assessment; this should simply be an opportunity for the supplier to find out how the appointment was for you, ensure you understand the information that was shared with you and answer any questions you may have.
2. Placing Your Stairlift Order
Whether it is during your assessment appointment or at a later date, once you are ready to proceed with your stairlift quotation you should expect the order process to be simple:
- All relevant order paperwork will be shared with you, with details matching your stairlift quote.
- You’ll receive clear instructions on how to sign & return the required order form and relating paperwork, and how make the required deposit payment.
- A reminder of what to expect throughout the rest of the process, up to including the stairlift installation itself.
If your stairlift order includes preparation work to be completed by an approved contractor or partner – such as an electrician or a carpenter – you will be advised about who you will hear from and when.
3a. Straight Stairlift Next Steps
You will be contacted by our Client Focus Team to check your availability and book a stairlift installation date, with information provided on what to expect on the day of the install. An engineer will then prepare your stairlift, including cutting the rail to the required length, in our workshop – minimising the amount of work required in your home during the installation.
One working day before the install date, our office staff will contact you to re-confirm, including letting you know which installer(s) will be attending and what time to expect their arrival. Finally, your stairlift will be installed – finishing with a full demonstration and handover, delivered with clarity and patience.
3b. Curved Stairlift Next Steps
Digital Survey
You will be contacted by Our Client Focus Team to check your availability and book a digital survey, with information provided on what to expect on the day of the digital survey and any requirements (such how long the stairs will need to be kept clear for). You will be contacted by the office team one working day before the digital survey date to re-confirm, including letting you know which surveyor(s) will be attending and what time to expect their arrival.
Production Drawing
After this, our Order Processing Team will send the digital survey and technical files to the manufacturer so they can produce a bespoke technical drawing of the stairlift configuration on your staircase. Once ready, this production drawing will be cross-referenced by our team against the digital survey and order details; we will then share an overview of the drawing with you, with a full explanation, for your understanding and approval, before moving the stairlift into production with the manufacturer.
Stairlift Installation
Once we have a confirmed date that your stairlift will be delivered to us, our Client Focus Team will contact you to book a stairlift installation date, with information provided on what to expect on the day of the install. One working day before the install date, our office staff will contact you to re-confirm, including letting you know which installer(s) will be attending and what time to expect their arrival. Finally, your stairlift will be installed – finishing with a full demonstration and handover, delivered with clarity and patience.
4. After Your Stairlift has Been Installed
Your aftercare package will have been included as part of your order, including making sure you have easy access to our contact details should you need them in the unlikely event of a breakdown or issue with your stairlift. We are always happy to discuss changes or extensions to our aftercare packages and answer any questions you may have, so always rest assured that your contact to us will be welcome.
You may well receive a follow up call from our Client Focus Team at some point after your stairlift has been fitted and you have had some time to get used to it. This will simply be an opportunity for us to see how you are getting on with the stairlift, answer any questions you may have and find out how your overall experience with Kudos Stairlifts has been.
